One of our newest models, Somsak, is 21 years old and from Thailand. Sometimes guys from Thailand don’t really understand what the word “gay” means in the Western world because for them it means you want to be a girl or a ladyboy. Our usage of it in the west, of course, means men who love others of the same sex. When we asked Somsak if he was gay during our pre photography interview, he gave us an emphatic response of “no, I am man”. A while later during the photo shoot our photographer asked him if he had a girlfriend. He said “no”. He then asked if he had ever had a girlfriend. To which he replied again, “no”. Watching him move during the shoot, and his other mannerisms, our gaydar was going off like crazy. He had to be “gay”! Feeling brave, our photographer asked him if he like men or women to which he gave us a shy little smile and answered “men” giving some of us a few moments of confusion until this difference in the word usage of “gay” was explained to us. One thing about Somsak is for sure, he definately loves men and he is definately “gay” in the Western sense of the word! Now, who wants to be the man Somsak falls in love with?
